This is the oldest coffee shop/confectionery in Rio de Janeiro, and has been open since 1880, more than 140 years, approximately. Try the apple pie. It's stunning!!! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Lovely old cafe bakery with numerous DELICIOUS savory (ex. empanada) and sweet (ex. eclairs) baked goods. All reasonably priced and high quality. You get a card when you enter and then select your baked goods (show them your card) and take them to your table, where a server will come for your drink order (and associate the charge with your card). Upon finishing, you take your card to the cashier where you pay for all your purchased items. If you "lose" your card (you must show it to exit), you pay a significantly higher penalty fee as they don't know what all you may have consumed. Bathrooms are upstairs and small. Overall a great experience and a nice establishment - a must for baked good lovers! Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: R$20–40 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
Very good sweets and excellent service. Whenever I go to RJ I make a point of going to this bakery. My only reservation is the price of brewed coffee, which is very high for the size of the cup and the qualities of the product offered. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
The sweets are cool. I love the cassava cake and bread pudding. The only downside is that they only accept payment in cash or debit card. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
I always take the casadinho, which is delicious! Glazed fruits are by weight. Some you can mix, others you can't: there is a minimum of 100 grams to be able to take. A feather. I stopped buying because I couldn't take less than 100 grams of figs, for example. Taking a walking tour through the center of Rio, I have to end it here. This confectionery was created in 1860. It completes my historical and cultural tour. The architecture with French and Spanish influences remains. A varied menu and friendly service. A delight. Service: Dine in Meal type: Other Price per person: R$1–20 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
The place is beautiful! Historic! The man at reception is a sweet person... The waitresses are terrible, the service is rude, without any care... What comes from the kitchen also has the same carelessness... The price is high for what is offered... Parking: Location with busy streets... Service: Dine in Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: R$20–40 Food: 3 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4 Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Free street parking
What a beautiful, well-kept place, it’s a step back into the past. The Petrópolis bread, traditional from Cavé, on the grill with butter is delicious. I also tried the apple strudel which was great. The place takes us back to the past. Located right in the center of Rio de Janeiro, Café Cavê has savory and sweet dishes for your afternoon coffee. I tried a pastel de Belém and liked it.
Interesting cafe: 1. they give magnetic cards at the entrance; 2. you give these cards to the employee behind the counter; 3. Choose what you will eat; 4. They bring you food at your table along with a card; 5. Give the card back at the checkout after eating. They count it for you - you pay. Then the card is returned to you 6. And at the entrance you give it to the same guard who gave it to you))) this is a very funny quest! What about the food: interesting))) delicious) but everything is very sweet - Brazilians love sweets! And everywhere in Brazil, knowledge of the English language suffers! So let's learn sign language Dietary restrictions: Hardly Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: R$100–120 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
