I'm a chef and I review cafes and restaurants in the cities I visit. Visit at Expresso Catumbi on 09/23/2023 at 1:30 pm. 1) Hygiene and food safety: Stray dog lying at the door of the establishment where the same employees maintain contact and serve food. Employees who work at the cash register are the same ones who handle the food, causing cross-contamination. Employees come into direct contact with the food using their hands (more contamination, this time direct, by bacteria and viruses. I recommend using some type of spatula or tongs). Kitchen staff do not use appropriate caps and clothing when cooking food. I recommend not having direct contact with organic waste, which can cause direct contamination of food, including salmonella bacteria, one of the most dangerous and which can lead to customer death. 2) Customer service: I witnessed the attendants disrespect a couple and an elderly woman when tourists asked about the coffee sold in grains (the attendant's ironic response was that it is coffee in grains like all coffee in grains), and then, about the Croissant from the house, if they could see it before ordering, and amazed, the two attendants asked if they knew a Croissant and that they wouldn't show it. Detail, the elderly woman appeared to be between 80 and 90 years old and the couple was over 50 years old. The customer responded that he knew both Croissants from Brazil and those from Paris, a country he visited frequently, and because they knew Croissants well , they made a point of bringing the Croissants before ordering, but the arrogance and lack of respect of the servers (the same employees who practice cross-contamination in food) was even worse, even sending them to complain on the internet that they wouldn't care ( Just remembering that disrespect towards customers and above all mistreatment of the elderly is a crime). Well, unfortunately for the employees and lucky for former future customers, there was a chef (me...lol...) evaluating the place at this exact moment and the rating for the service is ZERO. I advise the owners to change the entire workforce. 3) Atmosphere: Simple but very presentable place. There is no handrail at the entrance for elderly access. Unfortunately, the Expresso Catumbi cafe in the city of Caconde needs recycling. After my visit to Caconde, I headed to Poços de Caldas where I had a fabulous experience in all the cafes and restaurants I visited. I will continue with my visits and helping in whatever way I can. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: R$20–40 Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2
